XMR Mining with RTX 5090 GPU and Docker
With one command
If you are here because you found this page while looking for an easy way to:
- Mine XMR (Monero) with latest XMRig build on Ubuntu Desktop
- Do so using 1 quick docker command
- Have built in support without having to hand compile plugin for latest CUDA (nvidia based hashing) as well as CPU compatible with modern RTX 5090 cards (and others)
Then you can jump right to my github to go:
https://github.com/BadPirate/xmrig-docker
Or Just launch (For CUDA 12.9.0):
docker run --rm -it --privileged --security-opt seccomp=unconfined \
--security-opt apparmor=unconfined --gpus all \
ghcr.io/badpirate/xmrig-docker:latest <xmrig arguments>Worth it?
Depends a lot on your hardware, home CPU mining isn’t profitable unless your electric rates are less than 0.11 kWH, and GPU mining isn’t profitable unless your electricity is less than 0.01 kWH — And that is assuming your equipment is free.

That being said, mining does help improve transaction speeds as well as helps avoid the very real threat of 51% takeover plaguing the XMR coin at the moment. And the electricity isn’t wasted if you are using it to heat your space :)
